Governor's Secretariat and Chancellor’s Secretariat

Governor’s Secretariat, which exclusively deals with the matter related to the highest institution of the State, i.e the Governor of Assam. The institution of Governor has some specific power, roles and responsibilities, being the representative of the Central Government in the State. The Governor Secretariat performs all works assigned to the Governor by Constitution of India as well as central Government.

During the tenure of the former Governor, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, an innovative initiative was undertaken – the establishment of the "Chancellor's Secretariat." This Secretariat serves to assist the Chancellor-cum-Governor in coordinating efforts between the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellors, and the Department of Higher Education. Additionally, an officer of the rank of Additional Secretary has been appointed at Raj Bhavan, entrusted with additional responsibilities in the Education department, focusing on matters pertaining to higher education.
